Ashraf Kodak is one of Cairo’s most authentic and multi-talented folkloric dancers, specializing in natural Nubian and Saeedi styles taken from their source. Originally from Qena in Upper Egypt, he formed his own Nubian dance group at the age of sixteen, and went on to work consistantly with many of the country’s top theatre and video clip producers. In 2009 he joined the Cairo Opera House dance company Forsan al Sharq, with whom he still tours and performs, as well as participating solo and with his own troupe in many oriental dance festivals.
